Birthdays: Mike - September 9, Karen - December 19, Tucker - September 11, Mike and Karen's Anniversary - October 11
Mike and Karen are currently in training with New Tribes Mission. They are learning how to reach Indigenous Tribal groups with the gospel, translate the scriptures into their language, and leave behind a self supporting, self governing, and self propagating New Testament Church. The Kelly's are planning on working in Venezuela.

Tucker Thomas has arrived
On September 11th at 6:28 pm our incredible baby boy finally decided to join us! He weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces and was 21 inches long. It has been fantastic to watch him grow, change, and unscrunch these last few weeks. I have been particularly struck with the depth and extent of parental love. As I hold our little one in my arms and feel such care, concern, and desire for goodness for him, I am amazed that our Father in heaven feels the same towards us-yet even more so! His love for us is truly one that we can rest in, confident of His desire for our good. (Even if our current situation doesn't particularly feel good.)
Wanted to give a brief update on the Mexico trip. It was absolutely fabulous. The Lord kept us out of any bad weather and road conditions, we breezed through the border crossing and checkpoints, and apart from a few slight translation errors (my fault!!!) things couldn't have gone smoother.
We spent 6 days in and around the city of Chihuahua meeting with the field leaders, and preparing for our arrival. We have a much better idea of what to bring, what to expect and what to do before we arrive. It was especially thrilling to talk with the tribal coordinators regarding tribes that we may be ministering with in the future. The field is currently looking at moving into three groups: The Kikapu, the Nalwatl, and the Kora. It was really amazing for us to see tribes so close to the border with Texas that have never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel. Honestly, less than 4 hours from El Paso are ENTIRE GROUPS OF PEOPLE who have never had the opportunity to hear what Christ accomplished nearly 2,000 years ago.
Karen and I are planning on moving to Chihuahua this summer to begin our formal Spanish study. Chihuahua is an amazing place with everything from street side taco carts to a Super Wal-Mart. The people were very friendly and very willing to work with our stammering Spanish. The population is around 1.8 million and climate would be considered 'high desert.' Oh, and of course the food - it was amazing!
I have posted pictures and description on our website (there is a link on the bottom of the e-mail) for you to see a bit what it looks like. I hope to put some different pictures up in a week or so to keep things interesting.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support, we feel so blessed to have you on the team!
NTM is a 'Faith Mission.' This means that all of their missionaries are required to raise their own support. We do not receive any financial assistance from NTM.
With 10 months before our anticipated departure for Mexico, we are at 20% of our recommended monthly support level.

Thanks for a quick and safe delivery and healthy baby.
For wisdom as we learn how to be parents.
For an increase in both financial and prayer support.
Safe Field Visit
For a safe and effective trip to Mexico this January.
Got to use us
That God would use us to challenge others to become increasingly involved in reaching the unreached.
That Mexico would remain open to missions work, that the country would remain friendly to North Americans.
For the tribe that we will one day be working with - that even now they would be being prepared to accept and believe the truth.
